This supplement of the family register of the van Lessen family 1689 – 1992, which Hermann van Lessen (299) from Weener published in 1994, became necessary for three reasons:
1. to update the family register after nearly I0 years.
2. to correct minor errors, which were discovered in the
register.
3. to include the family tree of Elias van Lessen in the
16. and 17. Century, which we owe to the investigations
of Hermann Fischer from Wihelmshaven, decendant
of Elias van Lessen.
Hermann van Lessen again collected the family data, supported by the board members of the family union. Betsy van Lessen (G 49) from Assen collected and arranged the data of our Dutch and English family members from the Groningen branch. Hinderikus van Lessen (B 76) from Ter Apelkanaal worked out the Bourtange branch of the family. Freerk van Lessen (357) from Bingum prepared a new edition of the graphic presentation of our family tree. By division and seperate presentation of the 7 main branches of the family, he was able to include the members of the last three generations of the family until the end of the year 2000 in the family tree. The family trees were produced by Mrs. Buss-Saathoff and the painteress Mrs. Rita Kruse from Leer/Ostfriesland.
We want to thank whole heartedly all the above named, especially Hermann van Lessen, for their hard work and great pains.
In the future the collection and arrangement of family data will have to be EDP supported. Everything is constantly changing, and like our ancestors we want to keep up.
